Second Saturday Gallery Night Takes to the Streets

Tonight is the Second Saturday Gallery Night, when the many art galleries in Highland Park open their doors to the public.  Hipsters will be mingling around York down Avenue 50 and along Fig.   Put on your scarves and blazers and join in on the fun.

BUT…my hipster gringos take note the real ART in Highland Park can be seen anytime for FREE just by taking a walk or hopping on your fixie.    Yes STREET ART mis amigos!

The Art is in the Street

The Art is in the Street

The walls of Highland Park have long been home to some of the city’s most vibrant murals.  While out tonight  keep your eyes open for the ART that exists outside of gallery walls.

One of the best open air galleries lives in the Alley across from the Highland Theater.

This Alleyway Gallery contains living and breathing street art done by the locals here in HP.  Here’s a sampling of the latest exhibition.

Head through the Alley and you come to a parking lot that has all its surfaces covered in color.

I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil

Totally take advantage of the free wine and snacks the galleries will be offering up, then sneak out to the streets where the real ART will be happening.
